Hi! I’m Archita, an MRes Bioengineering student from Mauritius. I did my undergraduate studies in Biotechnology at Imperial, where my final-year project used RNA-seq to study immune gene regulation in plants. At the RLA lab, I am characterising wild Yarrowia strains isolated from foods to find out what useful traits natural diversity has already produced. I am particularly interested in how microbial systems can be made more predictable and engineerable for food and sustainability applications.
In my free time, I enjoy cooking, writing my food blog about the science behind everyday ingredients, and choreographing dance performances.
