Hello! I’m Cristian and I’m originally from Moldova. I hold a Master’s degree in Biotechnology from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), where I focused on microbial metabolic engineering and fermentation. My research interests include microbial biotechnology, metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, and sustainable bioproduction. At the RLA Lab, I am investigating regulated cell death and phenotypic heterogeneity in Yarrowia lipolytica under industrial conditions. My project explores the genetic and molecular determinants of lifespan and cell death, how these processes affect population heterogeneity and robustness, and how lifespan engineering influences lipid production and composition.
Outside the lab, I enjoy reading, playing video games, watching movies, and spending time in nature.
