Hi! I’m Jogindh, and I’m from Tamil Nadu, India. I studied Biology at IISER Pune and did my master’s thesis on synthetic metabolism at the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology in Germany. I’m now a PhD student in the UPsYDe Marie Curie network. I’m interested in how microbes trade off growth, production and survival. Engineered microbes are great at making things, but often not for very long. My PhD asks how we can extend their productive lifespan, using the oil-producing yeast Yarrowia lipolytica as a model.
In my free time, I’m practising calisthenics, collecting rare coins or reading comparative philosophy.
