Hi all, I am Mike. My research sits at the intersection of synthetic biology, tool making, and protein science. I did my undergrad in Biochemistry at the University of Bristol, followed by a masters in Synthetic Biology at UCL, where I focused on enzyme engineering. I then joined Jim Haseloff’s lab at Cambridge for a year, engineering bacteria and chloroplasts into a hyperexpression platform for recombinant proteins. At RLA, I am working on vitamin biosynthesis in Yarrowia lipolytica.
I am from Limassol, Cyprus, and outside the lab (when I am not recovering from the lab) you will usually find me out in nature, playing or watching football, bbqing, and always looking to try new things and places with friends.
